I really loved this game!!! Was smiling for hours after seeing the ending, what a surprisingly sweet story. I loved all the characters, and the dynamics between them. I would love to see more from you one day, you're very talented. I still can't believe it was made in only *20 days*, as your ***first attempt*** too.
This is quite an impressive game, despite it being your first game and you make it in 20 days. Although there are some repeated events you could fill Self Switch on for when you play it once. The characters were charming, the fourth wall breaking was appropriately placed and the story had layers the more you played. I also noticed you made this game in 2020, that was a year after I started game dev, just as a random thought.
Aaaaa, thank you very much!! I appreciate your response!
I will remember regarding the self switch, thanks! I'm so glad you find the characters likeable, that's like saying my friends are funny, because they're all literally my friends lmao. As for the story itself, wow thank you! π²
Starting as a game dev feels monumental, I get you. I remember I started because Covid hits, and I wanted to do smth for my friends in case something happens to them ;A;
Thank you so much for dropping a comment, this literally made my day π
Omg,, thank you!! Thank you so much for playing my game!! I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it! Truly, I am trying my best to make the sequel just so I can provide people like you a good time hhhhh
I've gone through every single dialogue option that I could find, The game was exactly what I've been craving for a long time. The characters are awesome, Dialogue is funny, certain options with characters and choices are also good. Literally everything about this game is perfect, the fact that it was made so fast, makes it even better. the only thing that I wish I could do, is fight the flower stepping boss. anyway, thank you for creating an awesome game for people to play. : )
EVERY SINGLE DIALOGUE? Oh my gosh, you madlad, that's super impressive!! π Even the items in Sage Rye's abode with Cosmicle in your party?? Because most people would miss that! hskdjsj
Either way, this is SUCH an honor to read! Your comment made me tear up actually lmao
THE FLOWER STEPPING BOSS OMG I wonder if I can add that thing in postgame so you can fight it with [spoiler aka ur best buddy] and the drop is something you can give [ur best buddy] π₯Ί
Oh no, thank YOU for playing and sharing your thoughts and comment with me!! This makes my week ππ
I forgot the behemoth grass! I am making a comment on top of the rating/review because I forgot to mention the behemoth grass. Artur is seriously underestimating himself, he can't even die, it would be so easy to kill that demon.
Oh yeah, the items in Sage Rye with Cosmicle's commentary was a really nice detail. "Palpable double standards"
You're right, Artur does underestimate himself! Hahaha, after getting Swordy's curse, he should have been able to kill it! I suppose he's still afraid of the pain despite not being able to die xD
I am happy you enjoyed the extra dialogues from the items, hehe. Bullying Cosmicle is my favorite past time π
Sy, your game is awesome. it's already so good despite being made in like what?! wHAt? 20 DAYS? unbelievable
HAHAHA DIALOGUES FUNNY
i love your characters so much and i think it's so sweet that they're inspired from your friends! and whoa, for that real nice plot, props to you and your friend (Rania, was it? i'm so sorry if i dont remember your friend's name correctly).
and hey, your art is BEAUTIFUL KJSFKJS character designs i dig ;)
h its sunday and i just woke up to this and i am crying in bed π₯Ί To see people enjoying my game despite it being made as a joke for fun with friends is making me emotional omg
THOSE 20 DAYS ARE THE BEST DAYS OF MY LIFE NOW THAT I SEE IT CAN MAKE PEOPLE OUTSIDE MY FRIENDS LAUGH TOO π€§
i think the whole reason i had so much fun making this game was because i can poke fun of my friends in the game while the characters poke fun at ME as a dev lmao, mutual π€ clownery
Thank You So Much for playing my game and sharing your funny comment, it pulled a laugh out of me, im gonna come back at read this over and over throughout the rest of this year for a boost ππ
I HOPE YOU FIND EXTRA MONEY AND HAVE A GREAT HALLOWEEN
I really enjoyed this game. I love the characters, the interactions, the plot and the world. I love the twists throughout the story. I also really think the combination duo of Artur and the sword. The interactions were genuinely hilarious and made me care for both of them. You did a great job at some world building but you excelled in character development and interaction. I love this game and can't wait to be on the next adventure!
THANK YOU so much for trying my game and even posting a gameplay out of it! I haven't finished watching it but it's a great reference for me seeing your speedthrough!! Also your comment is much appreciated aaaaaa super happy to hear you enjoy the characters! I had the most fun with them! Thank youuuu!! π
When this game ended up dropping into my lap I did not know what was in store for me.
Several hours later and I was sitting, trying to figure out what just happened. Laughs? Plenty of those. Adorable characters you can't help but fall in love with? Yup, that too. Actual crying, full on tears? Erm, yes. Definitely.
Arthur is so packed with charm, and it's a wonderfully put together story and RPG game.
There's not much in the way of threat when it comes to the battles themselves, but it's still very satisfying to whomp bad guys and gain that sweet experience.
The story itself is where this game really shines though. I was instantly enthralled by the main protagonists, and every NPC is a joy to interact with too.
Honestly, even though this game was thrown together in 20 madcap days, it's turned out amazingly! Sequels and spin offs when?
WAIT I just saw this on my way to work! ;A; It was such a joy watching your journey, and reading this made me keel over with feels huhuhu,,, THANK YOU SO MUCH, I cannot express in words how much this comment means to me!
Just finished the game. It was pretty fun! The story kept me invested, and while I felt the ending was a bit abrupt, I definitely enjoyed the buildup to that final reveal, even if it's not hard to predict the twist if you pay close attention to what's implied through the dialogue. Still, I enjoyed the experience, and I'd be happy to try any new projects you might make in the future.
Thank you so much, Mark!! Admittedly enough, my trial for RPGMMV was at the 19th day when I wrote that ending, so it was definitely rushed as heck! Hahaha! Congratulations on picking up the clues through the dialogues! It was such a fun experience putting certain things everywhere. I hope you enjoyed the after-credits as well!
Thank you so very much for the comment, this made my day!
I'm glad to hear it! Now, this might be a minor nitpick, but the 2.1 update said something about a post-game CG, but I don't think it triggered for me. I got the extra scene where Artur and Arthur had a nice lunch with everybody, and then the game took me back to the title screen. Was this what was supposed to happen?
Oh, that's certainly odd! Thank you so much for informing me! I'll look it up immediately! What's supposed to happen is after that lunch scene, the screen should fade out and show this image! Here, I'll show it to you since you missed it!
And the image pans up into a text that says "Until our next adventure!"
After that, it should boot you back to the title screen.
Alright, I've downloaded the 2.1 version myself to try in another device and the CG worked as intended, hmm. Can you tell me whether you played for Windows or Mac OS?
My goodness, I can't thank you enough for finding this bug! =O! Now that I own RPGMMV, I should put your name in the 2.2 update under the betatester list for finding this crucial bug aaaa
The dialog is sure to crack you up, the maps are very nicely made (especially considering the dev is an admitted RPGMaker n00b who cranked it out within the 20 day trial!), and in addition to looking great they contain a lot to find for players who like to thoroughly explore environments.
It's a long enough game to be a satisfying quest, but short enough that you won't have to make a big time commitment to try it out and even finish it.
I am forever grateful that we released our games at around the same time so we get to experience each others' games, it's such an honor to hear you enjoyed the adventure!
I just got done finishing this game and wow..... first off, the fact you made it during the trial period of MV is impressive! For an RM newbie, the mapping in some places are really nice to look at (I've used RM for a few years now and my mapping remains horrendous haha, so props to the thoughtful mapping!) I really liked how Artur is completely self-aware, so it gives a feeling of breaking the forth wall without totally breaking it. I also loved how almost everything with interactable, I love RPGs like that! Swordy was a really nice companion, and his backstory actually brought a tear to my eye! The characters were all unique and interesting, and the banter Artur has with everybody is hilarious (but yo Cosmicle was a little too much at times haha). For spending such a short time in this world, the story was quite engaging, despite the parody aspect of it. I really felt the journey developed really well, and you feel sucked into this world. You really do feel like Artur randomly thrown into this place! It was a funny experience with a few touching moments, good job! Also, "Death Should Not Have Taken Thee" menu music.... props to that! I notice Artur sort of, kind of resembles Len? I assume this was on purpose. Anyway, throughly enjoy it, and if you ever use MV again, I can't wait to see what other fun stories and worlds you come up with!
I cannot articulate enough how thankful and unbelievably happy your comment made me! It took me hours to think how to respond, but please note both you and El.Seth has made me incredibly hopeful to eventually purchase RPGMaker. To think my learning process can give this much enjoyment to others, and veterans at that...! I'm so, so honored.
You've pointed out so many good points, I am a pile of embarrassed mush, but I will try my best to put my thoughts into words!
Oh goodness, the mapping! I had so much trouble with that! I had to look up examples and read up tips from the community, and my respect to game-makers grew like tenfold. It is so difficult! Mad respect to people who do these for years, oh my gosh, and that includes you!
As for the characters, I am pleasantly surprised to know that people find them interesting! Due to the parody nature of the game, I had no higher goals than to hope they could amuse the players, even a tiny bit. To know that you found them to be fun is incredibly humbling, I could not be happier. π₯Ί
Ah! You interacted with things around you! That makes me so glad! Thank you!! It was so fun putting tidbits and conversations here and there! The plot development moved so fast, the only way I could give the characters some room to be themselves is by item interaction! Thank you so much for noticing this! I asked my brother to betatest and he nyoom-ed so fast to the next plot, it made me sad HAHA
The fact that you recognize the music made me smile from ear to ear! To be honest, the title music and art was originally the default RPGMV one, but 5 days in development, my playlist suddenly played Death Should Not Have Taken Thee and only then did I notice, "Hey wait. This is the exact feral energy I wanted in this game!" and that Artur looks similar to Len. Which I immediately took advantage of for the title art hahahaha.
Thank you so, so, so much for your earnest and heartfelt comment, you and El.Seth helped me in finding confidence to go further. I never knew making games can make me feel this happy. Thank you!! I will make sure to return the favor and try your games as well after I fix my laptop! There's so much I could learn! So much stories to discover! I am excited!
Thank you for making my first experience this amazing. I will remember your kindness, as well as El.Seth's forever.
I am very happy to have made you happy! Your game was really thought out and funny, and the interactable truly helped me feel more immersed with the world and build my love for the relationship between Artur and Swordy! I think RMMV is a good investment, you will love using it regularly! Wow, you did a lot of research for mapping! I admittedly always wing it hahaha, and despite my horrendous style, I feel it embodies uniqueness in its own right (but an eyesore to most lol). So your mapping skills are very pretty and well thought, methinks. I really do look forward to future stories you tell!
Hi! I just dropped by to say this game is amazing and the humour is gold! I'm glad I came across this gem! Love the facts that Artur is invincible (I never used potions lmao), Cosmicle is 70 levels above everyone else, and Swordy is so cute and precious awww~ I enjoyed the snarky comments both Artur and Swordy makes when investigating (and stealing) literally every object in the game- especially the part when Artur picks the lock in the inn and the NPC was just like WTH how are you here!? And then the childish scuffle with Caesar- HAHA that got me rolling. There was not a single scene when I did not laugh out loud, and for your first RPG maker game, I think you did a great job! Cheers to you!
Hi! Oh my goodness, you have no idea how many times I've read and reread your message, it makes me so incredibly happy! Thank you so much for taking your time to play and even commenting, I'm so honored it can make at least one person laugh!
Once my laptop is up and running again, I will make sure to try some of your games as thanks!!! I saw your list and am highly interested in some of the titles π
THANK YOU AGAIN FOR THIS HEARTWARMING COMMENT πβ€
Noooo, believe me, I want to! I love stories! I also just realized you've made VN games for Androids too, that's amazing!! I can definitely play them this way without my laptop! Bless you!!

That sounds cool, that you used this game as a vehicle to bond with your friends. I look forward any work you put out in the future.
This is by far the best game I've played on RPG Maker. You my friend have some serious talent. I sincerely hope to see more games for you.

Also, I was playing the Windows version, and my PC is a Dell XPS 13 Laptop, if that helps.
Arthur is a fun and funny little adventure.
